Privacy policy
Notchbird keeps your data on your Mac. This policy explains the few things that leave it, and why.
Notchbird is made by Donncha O'Toole in Ireland ("we"). For any privacy question, email hello@notchbird.com.
The Mac app
Stored on your Mac
Activity history, clipboard history, focus history, notes drafts and settings are stored on your Mac under ~/Library/Application Support/Notchbird and in its preferences, with owner-only file permissions. Your licence key and any credentials you add are kept in the macOS Keychain. We never receive any of this.
Agent sessions
Notchbird reads Claude Code and Codex session state over your own SSH connection to machines you choose. From Claude Code transcripts it reads the session title, turn boundaries, tool names and a one-line preview of the latest reply. It never reports your prompts or tool inputs. This data travels only between your machines, over SSH and Tailscale, and is not sent to us.

Notchbird has no analytics, advertising or tracking. It asks for a macOS permission (location, Bluetooth, microphone, Automation or Screen Recording) only when you first use the feature that needs it.
Buying a subscription
Lemon Squeezy is our reseller and merchant of record. It processes your payment and holds your name, email address, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, country and order details so we can support you. We use your email only for your purchase, your licence and support, never for marketing unless you ask.
This website
notchbird.com sets no cookies of its own. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, and we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies or cross-site tracking. Fonts load from Google Fonts. The checkout runs on Lemon Squeezy.
Legal basis and retention
We process purchase and licence data to perform our contract with you, and support emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We keep order records for as long as tax law requires, currently six years in Ireland, and delete support email when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@notchbird.com. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
